Desolation row.

August 24, 2008

I wish I had a lot of interests or hobbies. I mean, I love cartoons and alternative comics and folk music and also Victorian architecture, but really that’s about it. I need to get into something else as well. You can never have too many interests.

I’ve just recently begun drawing a graphic novel about my own childhood, which I am disguising as fiction. I’ve finished the first chapter and have sent it to a bunch of different places. I’m hoping to draw about two hundred pages for it at least. That may seem like a lot to some people, but I’m so self absorbed that it won’t be hard to draw two hundred pages about me. Actually, it’s not really me. The main character’s name is Harvey. It’s a lot different than what i draw normally, because it’s not full of jokes or anything. It’s not an angry comic either which is how I see all of my work as a whole, sadly.

This book will win me an Ignatz award for best first book.

I’m thinking about calling this book Euclid.

Here is me and Robin selling my comics and me and John Porcellino (King Cat comics&stories)

I can’t wait to read your graphic novel. Truly. Will it be scratch & sniff? You should consult my detailed journals for that period to add a little fact to your composition. Why don’t you come for a visit to mine my vast historical repository from the glorious period? However, maybe you have a good memory. Misery has a way of etching itself into our memories. Harvey and Euclid? Something about that sounds familiar. I love you, son. Have fun. If you’re happy, I’m happy. Are you getting enough to eat? I send my love and blessings.
    Love,
